Zoomy cuts deal with airport, supports Beervana

Local rideshare company Zoomy is hoping to increase ridership with two new initiatives.

Commuters frustrated by Wellington’s public transport problems over the last few weeks have been increasingly using taxis, and the services of the best-known rideshare company, offshore giant Uber. But the locally owned and operated app-based company Zoomy, which operates in Auckland and Wellington, is hoping to raise its profile here this weekend.

As of yesterday, Zoomy has an agreement in place with Wellington Airport which allows its customers to be picked up and dropped off at the airport’s ground level, from the dedicated Ride Sharing Pickup Zone.

Zoomy will collect a $3:00 fee on behalf of the airport for all pick-ups and drop-offs.

To celebrate the launch, Zoomy will have staff at the airport on Friday and Saturday, handing out free ride offers.

The code for the airport pickups is WLGPICKUP and is valid for one free ride up to the value of $20:00 until 16 August.

Zoomy is also supporting the big Beervana event today and tomorrow at the Westpac Stadium.

Zoomy will have its own marquee at the event with a chill-out area just outside the stadium entrance, and a dedicated Zoomy pickup zone at the stadium on the ground floor, signposted with directions.

Zoomy is also offering half-price rides for Beervana customers until midnight on Sunday 12 August. Customers should enter the promo code BEERVANA50 when booking a ride.
