The planned industrial action by the Tramways Union planned for tomorrow has been postponed until Thursday 25 October.
A statement by Metlink has advised that bus services tomorrow will no longer be affected as previously advised.
The strike action, now on Thursday, will affect some services in Wellington City, Hutt Valley and Porirua.
Tramways Union secretary Kevin O’Sullivan said that a “legal loophole” required the strike to be postponed.
This has been addressed with drivers from Tranzurban and Uzabus going on indefinite strike from 2.00am on Thursday morning, for the first time since the 1990s.
Not all services will be directly impacted by industrial action, however remaining services may experience heavy patronage demand and delays.
Bus users are encouraged to check the Metlink website before traveling, or call the Metlink team on 0800 801 700.
A Save Our Bus Service Rally for drivers and supporters will take place in Cuba Mall from noon today, Labour Day, with live music and speeches.
