Six fire appliances and a command unit are attending the scene.

All inhabitants have been accounted for, with no injuries.

Metlink advise that the Route 3 bus service is terminating at Sutherland Road. Outbound services now terminate at bus stop 6336 – Sutherland Road at Queens Drive. Inbound services now start at bus stop 7336 – Queens Drive at Sutherland Road.

All stops for the Route 23 service on View Road are closed with services diverted along Hungerford Road and Houghton Bay Road until further notice.

Strong southerlies and big swells in Cook Strait have caused six cancellations of Interislander crossings today, as well as tomorrow’s 3.30am crossing.

Waves above five metres are expected in Cook Strait until tomorrow morning, and there may be further delays on Saturday.

For the latest information, check the Interislander website.

The rain has also caused the New Zealand Transport Agency to issue a warning advising drivers to take extra care on State Highway 1 between Wellington and Ngauranga because of surface flooding.
