Uncapped Pulse players jump into new Silver Ferns squad

Te Wānanga o Raukawa Central Pulse wing defence Karin Burger and her 18-year-old teammate, shooter Aliyah Dunn are two of three uncapped players named today by Netball New Zealand for the 2018/19 Silver Ferns squad

SKYCITY Mystics wing attack Elisapeta Toeava is the other new player in the 17-strong squad, which features the return to the Ferns of former captain Casey Kopua and experienced mid-courter Laura Langman.

Langman last wore the black dress in October 2016, while Kopua, who captained the Waikato-BOP Magic in the ANZ Premiership, stepped away from the international game in 2015.

Their return is believed to be tied to the forthcoming appointment of a new Silver Ferns head coach, widely expected to be Noeline Taurua.

The team also includes Te Wānanga o Raukawa Pulse players Ameliaranne Ekenasio and captain Katrina Grant, the ANZ Premiership player of the year.

The Silver Ferns open their international season on September 15 against the English Roses in the Netball Quad Series at Spark Arena in Auckland, and will be looking to next July’s Netball World Cup in Liverpool, UK.
