Wellington’s regional men’s hockey team, Ricoh Capital Cobras, emerged unscathed from the first half of the Ford National Hockey League tournament, while the women’s squad are placed fourth on their table.

The Cobras came up against Bayleys Midlands yesterday in Wellington. At the half the teams were tied at 1-1, but Capital managed to get on top in the game and produced two field goals to Sebastian Buddle and Daniel Harris in the second half to secure the win.
The Cobras will face Canterbury today, who have also made it through the competition without a loss.
In the final game yesterday, Ricoh Capital Women took on Southern, with both looking for their first win of the tournament. Capital was able to finish on to with a 3-1 lead, which moves them into fourth place in the women’s standings.
The 2018 Ford National Hockey League continues until Sunday at the National Hockey Stadium in Newtown.
