Listen to Martyn Pepperell on the Sweetman Podcast

Martyn Pepperell is a Wellington-based DJ, broadcaster, publicist, promoter and writer. Most recently he’s been directly involved with the reissue of Our Garden Needs Its Flowers by Jess Sah Bi and Peter One on the Awesome Tapes From Africa label.

Martyn Pepperell talked to Simon Sweetman, who has known him for over ten years, for Episode 133 of the Sweetman Podcast, about his life as a passionate reader and music fan, to his involvement in small music press and then to international writing and broadcasting.

The recording of the podcast was postponed, as on the day it was originally scheduled Martyn informed Simon of the sad news of the death of his father, long-serving Wellington City Councillor Bryan Pepperell. The subsequent discussion gave an opportunity for Martyn to talk about his father.

As well as maintaining a long-running blog and writing the book On Song, Wellington writer and broadcaster Simon Sweetman has published over 125 podcasts, many with notable Wellingtonians.

We are providing occasional links to them on The Wellington App.
