For the first time Kaibosh Food Rescue is 2019’s official charity partner of Wellington’s iconic fun run, Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays. One dollar from every registration will be donated to Kaibosh, helping reduce food waste and providing meals for those who are struggling.
Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays takes place on February 17th at Frank Kitts Park. In its 42nd year, the iconic event is organised by Sport Wellington. Participants can choose to walk or run a range of distances, from 6.5 kilometres to a half-marathon.
Kaibosh is entering a mega-team into the event and are calling for Wellingtonians to join them in running to fight food poverty and food waste. General Manager Matt Dagger says, “Kaibosh is the recipient of an incredible amount of support and good will and by participating in the Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays people are helping us work towards a healthier Wellington.”
A big supporter of Kaibosh, Wellington City Mayor Justin Lester is encouraging people to sign up for the Kaibosh mega-team. “Round the Bays is an awesome opportunity to not only get moving in our great city, but also to support a local charity working hard to make a real difference in our community.”
Founded in 2008, Kaibosh Food Rescue has been reducing food poverty and food waste in the Wellington region for over 10 years. The local charity rescues quality surplus food from businesses and redistributes it to community groups supporting people in need. Each month Kaibosh rescues up to 25,000kg of food, providing more than 71,000 meals.
Kaibosh relies on the generosity of the community to rescue and redistribute food to vulnerable people. Participate in Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays and help fight food poverty and food waste. Standard pricing for the event ends on January 31st and registrations close on February 14th.
