Pegasus Books Poetry Reading Series 2019 #1

Pegasus Books is thrilled to announce the Pegasus Books Poetry Reading Series 2019. We have an extraordinary lineup of poets from across New Zealand who will be reading their poems in store throughout the year.

Readings are held every 6 weeks on Friday night at 6.30pm. Each reading features four poets.

We kick off on February 8 with:

Cine Club – Comme des garçons

On Friday 8 February at 6pm at the Alliance Française Wellington, discover the best of the French cinema with the screening of Comme des Garçons / Let the girls play starring the rising French actors Vanessa Guide and Max Boublil!

Reims, France, 1969. Paul Coutard, an inveterate womanizer and sports journalist at the daily newspaper Le Champenois, decides to organize a women’s football match to defy his boss during the newspaper’s annual charity fair. His favorite enemy, executive assistant Emmanuelle Bruno, has to help him. Unbeknownst to them, they will put together the first women’s football team in France.

Shuttle Time Friday Fun-minton

Friday FUN-minton. This will be casual active participation and play for all ability levels. There will be no coaching on this programme and participants are encouraged to join a court and play with new faces and have fun. Facilitated by our coaches, you will be rotated around the courts having an opportunity to socialize and play against new people, putting some of your skills to practice.

Wellington Newcomers Network is kicking off its first event of 2019 at St John’s Bar! This is much awaited social event that *finally* happening after 6 months of inactivity.

Come join us and say hi to Sanja Maric and Ayumi Sakakibara, the new Wellington Coordinators. We would love to meet you and will try to run regular events like this 🙂

Anyone is welcome, whether you just arrived in Wellington or have lived here for awhile.

If the weather is good we will get a table outside, if not will get a bar table inside. Look for a Wellington Newcomers sign on a table!

Māpuna – Exhibition, Poetry, Movie

Held within Māpuna, an exhibition of work by artists of Te Ātiawa, Ngai Tara/Muaūpoko, Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Rangitāne and Ngāti Raukawa ki te tonga descent. The exhibition aims to explore and celebrate the stories and people of Te Ūpoko o te Ika.

The exhibition includes work by Stevei Houkamau – uku/clay artist/carver and mixed media; Hayley Galo – Painter; Pikihuia Haenga – Multimedia Video Artist, Director of Photography and Film Maker; Vianney Parata – Painter and Sian Montgomery-Neutze – mixed media.

Exhibition at Flux Space, Wellington Museum until 24th February 2019.
