Green Party co-leader James Shaw was attacked while walking to work in Wellington this morning.

A spokesperson for Mr Shaw said he was walking down past the Botanical Gardens about 7.30am when he was grabbed and struck in the face by individual, who then took off.
UPDATE: 11:40am – Police said a 47-year-old man has been arrested in relation to an assault on Glenmore Street this morning.
Two members of the public went to his aid and called an ambulance.
Mr Shaw was checked out by ambulance staff at the scene and given the all clear.
He made his way to Parliament and attended a select committee but has now gone to hospital for a precautionary check-up.
Mr Shaw has given a detailed statement to the police.
Speaker of the House Trevor Mallard has granted Mr Shaw compassionate leave from Parliament for the meantime.
