Five sporting events to see in Wellington this weekend

Cricket

3 top premier cricket matches Saturday 26th. See Wellington’s top cricketers in action

Football

We’re a fresh squad of young, hungry players ready to emblaze our mark on this Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season. With new motivated leadership at the helm, confident direction in our appointed skipper and the build-up of our local kiwi talent, we are set to have an unforgettable season full of mana and fight – all which we look forward to sharing with you! #StandUpWithYourNix #ERereTeKeo

Running

Bernie Portenski Memorial race on this Saturday at Titahi Bay Handicaps race.  It’s a great course (well apart from the hill, it’s a great course) and everyone, in theory, has a shot at winning, so get along if you can. There is a  trophy at stake as well, the most handsome Onepoto Trophy.

Swimming

The Interislander Capital Classic gears up for another epic event on the Harbour with our home base of Oriental Bay playing host to one of our most popular events in the Series.

Take on a short and snappy swim, challenge yourself with a long distance swim around the iconic fountain or set your sights on a kids-only swim in the Banana Boat OceanKids Series – whatever floats your boat, we’ve got it in store.

Sunday, 26 January 2020 from 07:30-14:00

Triathlon

Tri Wellington is continuing the tradition of hosting a break the ice swim on Labour day. Meet at Freyberg beach at 12:45pm on the day to help each other into our wetsuits and have a pre-swim safety briefing. The swim itself is going to be the traditional Splash n Dash course first pontoon, fountain, second pontoon, first pontoon and then beach (730m) with breaks at each of those landmarks.

In the event of the weather being a strong Northerly we will move to Haitaitai beach. For less confident swimmers we will have a slow group so you don’t have to worry about slowing others down.

THEN…🥁🥁🥁…we’ll have some something special – some of our Tri Club members who are fresh back from their Kona will share their experience with us after our fresh swim (from 2:30pm) down at The Lanes Bowling alley – 234 Wakefield street – where you can also grab yourself a warm drink and snack.

Look forward to seeing you all there!

Please note this is not an official swim event with officials officiating! It is just Tri Club members getting together for a chilly dip. Please take care out there.
