Your high five events for Monday 1 October

Today is International Tenants Day, World Habitat Day, and the International Day of Older Persons. And the first week of school holidays.

Kids love theatre that’s interactive. And that’s what The Improvisors will be doing at Improv for Kids 2018 this week – taking kids into the magic of their own imagination, with opportunities to shout out, dance, wriggle and be part of the action. This is genuine family entertainment with every show is uniquely crafted for the audience. There are two shows daily all this week (10:00am to 11:00am and 11:30am to 12:30pm) to Saturday at Circa Theatre, with all tickets $12:00. Book here.

As part of International Tenants Day, Renters United in association with Community Law Wellington and Hutt Valley / Te Whare Ture Hapori are hosting a party to celebrate, and for people to write submissions on the Residential Tenancies Act and Healthy Homes Guarantee Act. It’s all happening at Level 8, Southmark House, 203 Willis Street, but if you can’t get along, you can make a submission on this easy-to-use online form. If you can make it in person, there are pop in sessions from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, a Renters United speaker with Q&A from 6:00pm to 6:30pm, then more pop in sessions from 6:30 to 7:30pm. Get along to make your voice heard in this once in a decade chance to fix renting!

The second of the popular Next Page sessions at the free Writers on Mondays series at Te Papa Marae, Level 4, Te Papa, runs from from 12.15pm to 1.15pm today. The Next Page 2 features readings from Andrei Seleznev, Charlotte Forrester, Sinead Overbye, Tim Grgec, Johanna Knox, Anna Rankin, Laura Southgate, Madison Hamill, Tracey Schuyt and Rose Lu, introduced by Emily Perkins.
