Felix Café, which has been an institution on the corner of Cuba and Wakefield Streets for 20 years, has closed.
The popular bright orange café was opened in 1998 by Wellington hospitality legend Danny McGrath, who has made a history of running great eateries on corner sites, like Flying Burrito Brothers, Tasting Room (formerly Brava) and General Practitioner.
Felix was ideally placed to take advantage of events at the Michael Fowler Centre and Town Hall, and for a number of years served as the virtual second office for LOOP magazine.
The interior is being comprehensively gutted, and will house a new Mediterranean-focused restaurant, Eat, which will initially only open for dinner.
