Have your say on the new Berhampore playground

The Wellington City Council are building a new children’s playground at

Berhampore’s Wakefield Park, and want your take on the draft plans.

Last year, the council consulted with the public about possible locations for a new playground on Wakefield Park and identified two options: next to the Olympic Football Club building just north of the sports fields, or on the skate park side of Adelaide Road. The second option was preferred by 92% of responses.

The Council designer has considered ideas provided by local children and a broad range of play activities that suit a community playground at this site.

The draft plan includes:

  • A climbing tower with a mega slide
  • A flying fox
  • Two seats of swings
  • An accessible carousel
  • An adventure trail
  • A toddlers’ sand play area
  • Picnic tables and seats

You can download the Wakefield Park draft plan.

You have until 5:00pm this coming Friday, 7 September, to provide feedback through this survey.

The park design will be confirmed in October, with the procurement process for the supply and build of the playground the following month. Installation should be completed by July 2019.
