Bus stopped by armed cops after Berhampore robbery

Armed police stopped a bus in Kent Terrace this morning following a report of a robbery in Berhampore shortly after 7.00am.

Police were seeking a male following the attempted robbery of an individual on the street in Berhampore.

The victim was not hurt in the incident, but initial information suggested the robbery may have involved a weapon, and armed police were deployed as a result.

Police spoke to an individual on the bus and established they were not the person being sought.

Police explained to the passengers and driver why the bus had been stopped, and they were able to continue their journey shortly afterwards.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing, and it has not been confirmed if a weapon was involved.
