Capital Football have beaten Central, 5-0, in their second game of the National Women’s League season.
After a disheartening 5-0 loss to Canterbury the previous weekend, Capital bounced back on Sunday against Central at Massey University in Palmerston North.
The 2010-2011 champions got off to the perfect start when Meisha Boone got on the end of a nice ball from Football Fern Anna Green and scored in the tenth minute.
However, it was not until the second half with the wind behind them, that Capital delivered a four-point onslaught.
Capital head coach Emma Evans said she is looking forward to building on this performance for the team’s first home game against the Northern Lights this weekend in Wellington.
“What is really exciting for us is we have only just begun,” said Evans. “We are a team filled with potential, some experience but also some up and coming players, and going up against Northern next week we have so much still to prove.”
The match is at Memorial Park in Petone from 1:30pm on Saturday 29 September.
