Airport covers up public transport options

Bus riders exiting Wellington Airport can now wait in a covered waiting area, connected to the main terminal by an undercover walkway.

The two-storey bus transport hub in the airport’s new multi-level car park will be used by the Airport Flyer bus and other scheduled bus services, when passengers exit left from the ground floor of the terminal.

Wellington Airport’s transport manager Pippi Kettle says it is a great addition to the airport’s transportation offer.

“Having a dedicated undercover waiting area and walkway makes the transition from bus to terminal a really easy option for people.”

The free public pick-up and drop off areas or the multi-level parking project have been extended, with additional bike and motorbike facilities created as part of the transport hub.

The associated multi-level car park has seven levels of covered car parks offering online booking or drive-up on the day options for any length of stay.

The airport has also introduced a 120-minute express parking zone near the building and close to the terminal for those farewelling or collecting friends and family.
